I was working on some home inspections and had to use the county recorder website tonight. Since I can't resist looking up old things about my house...do you want to see what it looked like in 1930?
That's so cool, right?? That big tree is gone, but the other little one has really filled out. The garage isn't completely covered with ivy yet and the lilac is a measly 20 years old. I am loving the sign on the lamp post...I think I might have to put an "Ellis" sign there now :) Since that photograph, many plants and trees have come and gone, but what's really neat is the house is the same wonderful house it has always been. It makes me daydream about all of the irreplaceable family memories that have taken place here in the last 126 years and the years to come.I am so happy that I have a joyful little family and a beautiful place to live--I really feel blessed. Some days are not so picture perfect, but in the grand scheme of things...we're doing just fine.
Here is the house now (from google street view. Translation: too lazy to find one I have taken.)
So, to catch up, here are some haps:-- My house is completely clean. Weird.
-- James has recently turned 35 years old.
-- I made an awesome BBQ/patio area to surprise Jake for Father's Day. (post worthy)
-- Oh, ya...my sister got married and IMHO it was the most beautiful wedding EVER. (definitely post worthy.)
-- one word...Eclipse.
-- We went on a cruise (see what happens when I don't blog...post worthy, as well.)
-- Tommy is still adorable.
-- Chomper (also adorable) can escape from his crib now. Shoot me in the head.
-- I have been Betty Crocker lately, and I love it
-- I try not to eat chocolate before 11:00 am. It's a lofty goal.
-- I have let go of expectations that I just might be able to get something done, and it has actually proved to be very productive (see above.) I don't get it, but I guess when you are more relaxed about things, they just work out.
So, there you have it. I'm not dead. I'm just...relaxed.

Relaxed is good!! I think that's how everything gets done too because whenever I'm frantic about stuff it is harder to do and always takes more time. I can't wait for Eclipse too, totally postworthy!
ReplyDeleteSeeing this old picture of your house is such a happy sight! Relaxed+productive=euphoric. Wish I could achieve that state!
ReplyDeletei love your 'catching up' list, I can't stop laughing. I definitely want to see pics of that cruise...if you ever have time!
ReplyDeleteI'm enjoying your blog!!
